The 2011 Rugby World Cup is being hosted by New Zealand and the cities that will be visited are spread throughout the land, with 10 in the North Island and 3 in the South.
The Tournament will kick off in Auckland at Eden Park on 9 September, 2011 when New Zealand will play Tonga.
Auckland (Eden Park), Wellington and Christchurch have been allocated five pool matches each while North Shore, Hamilton, New Plymouth, Rotorua and Dunedin will each host three matches. Whangarei, Nelson, Palmerston North, Napier and Invercargill will host two matches.
The northern most venue will be Whangarei, using the Northlands Event Centre, Albany, North Shore, North Shore City, Auckland, using the North Harbour Stadium, Auckland using Eden Park which will be hosting the final and Invercargill furthest south using Rugby Park on the South Island. The other venues are predominantly in the North Island, they are: Hamilton, Waikato Stadium, Rotorua, Rotorua ,International Stadium Nelson, with Trafalgar Park, New Plymouth, Taranaki, in the Yarrow Stadium, Napier ,McLean Park, Palmerston North, the Manawatu Arena,and the last on the North Island the capital Wellington, the Cake Tin or Westpac Stadium. The last two are both in the South Island in the stunning cities of Christchurch, the Ami Stadium, and last but by no means least: Dunedin, in Carisbrook Stadium.
