Canada Consistant Rugby World Cup Qualifiers

Canada have qualified for every Rugby World Cup and their best performance was a quarter-finals appearance in 1991. They lost 29-13 to eventual tournament champions that year New Zealand. The Canadian style of play is tough and uncompromising and they have brought through many stars who have gone on to play their club rugby in Europe.

Canada had their worst world cup in France losing all pool game except foir a 12-12 draw against Japan. They will do well to win any games this time out in Pool A, when they meet New Zealand, Tonga, France and Asia 1. Canada yet again have looked good in Rugby World Cup qualification winning all bar one of their games in America's Group qualifying and leaving them ranked 14th in the IRB World Rankings. The qualification was decided through a convincing win against the USA on the 11th July 2009, 41-18 after losing the first leg 6-12..

Their new coach Kieran Crowley though achieving wins locally has not so far taken the team forward against higher opposition loosing to Scotland A and England Saxons in the 2009 Churchill cup. We expect Canada to finish third or even maybe fourth in Pool A, with the qualifiers being New Zealand and France.
