Carisbrook Stadium, Dunedin

Carisbrook Stadium will be an all new stadium in time for the 2011 Rugby World Cup (RWC) and the site is on Awatea Street, Dunedin, a site currently comprising a number of light industrial businesses. Crossing Anzac Ave from the end of the University campus brings immediate access to where the Stadium Plaza will flow to the East End of the Stadium itself. The site continues alongside the lower reaches of the Leith River, ending as the Leith approaches its mouth into the Harbour. In forming a cornerstone for a Dunedin Quadrant that flows out from the Octagon, down to the University, across to the stadium, back along the waterfront to the railway station and Dunedin’s new Chinese Gardens it is One of the World’s Finest Stadium Locations. With the already scheduled realignment of State Highway 88 together with cycle track and pedestrian walkway, the Stadium will be just a 15 minute walk from the Central business district.

Carisbrook will host 3 pool games in the 2011 RWC, on 10 September Argentina v England, 18 September England v Georgia and 24 September England v Romania.
