New Zealand hammered Australia in Wellington today to end the 2009 Tri-Nations in second on the table behind runaway champions South Africa.
A converted Cory Jane try and three Dan Carter penalties, to a Matt Giteau penalty and Berrick Barnes drop-goal, gave the All Blacks a 16-6 half-time lead even with Toeava in the bin for a high tackle. Shortly after the break Carter extended the lead to 19-6 with a penalty. Then having withstood Wallabies pressure the Blacks broke out and Ma’a Nonu smashed his way over from the 22. The game ended with Joe Rokocoko diving over in the corner, finishing a sweeping move and Carter added the points to give us the final score of:
