Spain miss qualification for France 2007

Spain failed in their quest to reach the RWC finals in France 2007. They had been tipped to reach the playoff's for repechage'1' where they would have met Uruguay, but fell at the first hurdle losing out to Portugal their near neighbours.

1999 Qualification

Spain have been represented once in the Rugby World Cup they qualified for the 1999 championship hosted by Wales. Qualifying in the European section along with England, Ireland, Italy, Romania and Scotland whilst France as 3rd place finishers in 1995 along with Wales as hosts had automatic qualification. The competition was not a success in terms of results for the Spanish as they lost all their pool games.

Spain played their first international match in 1929 when they beat Italy 0-9 in an away game, they have lost regularly to them ever since. The team colours are red shirts with blue shorts and socks. This kits worst defeat to-date was a 92-10 loss against Australia in September 2001. In the RWC 1999 they lost 15-27 to Uruguay, 3-47 to South Africa and 0-48 to Scotland.
