The International Rugby Board has announced that TOSHIBA will be the title sponsor of the IRB Junior World Championship 2009 in Japan 5 to 21 June.As a result, this year it will be known as the IRB TOSHIBA Junior World Championship 2009.
IRB Chairman Bernard Lapasset said: (quote) The International Rugby Board is delighted to welcome TOSHIBA as title sponsor of the IRB TOSHIBA Junior World Championship 2009. The appointment of one of the world’s biggest electronic brands highlights the enormous global commercial appeal and prestige of the Championship. The global Rugby community eagerly awaits the start of the IRB TOSHIBA Junior World Championship and an Age Grade Tournament that promises to deliver world class facilities, a festival atmosphere and the next generation of international Rugby stars. It will be an event not to be missed.(end quote)
The three-week IRB Junior World Championship will bring together over 400 players from 16 nations in a Tournament that will give Rugby’s rising talent exposure to a high intensity event that provides a unique testing ground for the future stars of the international Game.
Mr. Noboru Mashimo, Chairman and Vice President of the Japan Rugby Football Union said: (quote) TOSHIBA has been a champion of Rugby in Japan for a long time and we are delighted that it is committed to what will be the largest international Rugby tournament ever to be staged in Japan.
