Wales sneak it – Wales 31-24 Scotland

Wales must have thought it was Christmas again as having been out played for 70 minutes Scotland gave them the victory on a plate.

Scotland started the match with power and no little skill as they raced into the lead with two tries in the first 20 minutes through John Barclay and Max Evans. Stephen Jones kept Wales in the hunt with three penalties and the teams went in to half time at 9-18.

The second half and it was Scotland who stretched out the lead to 9-24 and with 70 minutes on the clock you felt they were coasting to victory even when Lee Byrne and Leigh Halfpenny scored tries the clock seemed to be against the Welsh. But a second sin bin and Scotland down to 13 men Stephen Jones levelled the game with a 79th-minute penalty Scotland needed to clear the ball up field and get the ball out of play as the 80 minute mark came up, but they failed and that man Shane Williams took his chance under the posts and Scots hearts were broken.
