Wellington or Westpac Stadium, also known locally as the cake tin is a very easy stadium to find. We walked from the down town motels and it took us just under the hour along the waterfront. The stadium is also a 5/10 minute walk from the main station and Metro as well as a short walk from the ferry terminals for local and the inter island ferry so you could be staying in Picton or nearby and take the ferry crossing ( check out the times if you are thinking of this option). Another option is to stay in Lower or Upper Hutt, Papparauhu or Johnsonville. Also the airport is not far out of town and taxis or shuttles could be utilised.

We were unable to see the inside of the stadium and as it is a totally confined space can give you no comments or advice regarding the interior. We walked from the station side and here there are very wide walkways with carparking on two levels below. This is fairly extensive but will not be enough to cater for all requirements. There is other parking nearby but unless they signpost this for the occasion we strongly recommend the walking option.

The stadium covers some 1.8 hectares but it only has seating for some 34,500 which means it will be full houses all the way. However it is most certainly the easiest capitol city stadium we have ever visited and anyone coming will have a great time but come prepared for bad weather and if it does not rain the wind will almost certainly be blowing hard!
